Connect Jira to BugMojo
Link a Jira project to a BugMojo board so bugs, statuses, and fields stay in sync both ways.
Connecting Jira keeps your engineering workflow in one place. Once a BugMojo project is linked to a Jira project, new bugs can open matching Jira issues, and status changes move between the two tools automatically. This guide walks an ADMIN through connecting, mapping fields, turning on two-way sync, and disconnecting or resyncing later.
Before you connect
You need the ADMIN role on the BugMojo project and permission to authorize apps for your Jira site. Decide which single Jira project should mirror this BugMojo board first, since the link is one-to-one. If your Atlassian workspace blocks third-party apps, ask your Jira admin to approve BugMojo before you start.
Connect Jira to a project
Open the project in the BugMojo dashboard and go to Project settings → Integrations.
Find the Jira card and click Connect.
Sign in to Atlassian and Accept the requested access. You are returned to BugMojo when authorization succeeds.
Choose the Jira Site and the Project to link, then click Continue.
Map fields and statuses
Mapping tells BugMojo which Jira value matches each of its own. Under Field mapping, pair every BugMojo status (OPEN, IN_PROGRESS, DEV_TESTING, QA_TESTING, CLOSED, REOPENED) with a Jira status, then map Priority and, if you use them, Labels. Unmapped statuses will not sync, so cover every status your board uses before saving.
In the Field mapping panel, select a Jira status for each BugMojo status.
Map BugMojo priorities (CRITICAL, HIGH, MEDIUM, LOW, NONE) to your Jira priority scheme.
Optionally map Labels so tags carry across, then click Save mapping.
Turn on two-way status sync
Enable Two-way status sync in the Jira settings. After that, moving a bug to QA_TESTING in BugMojo transitions the linked Jira issue to its mapped status, and moving the Jira issue back updates the BugMojo bug. Sync uses your saved mapping, so keep the mapping current to avoid stalled transitions.
Disconnect or resync
To push current statuses and fields across after a mapping change, click Resync on the Jira card.
To stop syncing, click Disconnect. Existing Jira issues and their links stay in place but no longer update.
To sync again later, run through Connect once more and confirm your Field mapping is still correct.
Common questions
Do I need Jira admin rights to connect?
You need permission to authorize the BugMojo app for your Jira site. If your organization restricts app installs, ask your Atlassian admin to approve it first.
Can one BugMojo project connect to several Jira projects?
No. The connection is one-to-one: each BugMojo project links to a single Jira project. Connect Jira separately on each project you want to sync.
What happens to synced issues if I disconnect?
Existing Jira issues and their BugMojo links stay in place, but status and field changes stop flowing in either direction until you reconnect.
