What gets captured automatically
Understand exactly what the BugMojo extension records with every bug so you know what a report contains.
When you file a bug with the BugMojo extension, it bundles the context an engineer or AI agent needs to reproduce the issue, so you rarely have to explain it in words. This page lists exactly what is included, and what is deliberately left out.
What is captured
- Session replay: an rrweb DOM recording that reconstructs the page as it changed, not a video. Text stays selectable and files stay small.
- Console logs:
log, info, warn, anderrormessages, including stack traces, so you see errors as they fired. - Network requests: method, URL, status, timing, and masked headers. Request and response bodies are never captured.
- Device and environment: operating system, browser and version, viewport size, and screen resolution.
- Page URL: the address where the bug happened, plus navigation during the recording.
- User actions: clicks, inputs, and navigation, turned into readable repro steps.
- Screenshot: an optional capture of the current view that you can annotate before sending.
What is not captured
- Raw text and input values: masked by default so passwords, messages, and form data never leave your browser in the clear.
- Other tabs and apps: only the tab where you start a report is recorded, never your desktop or other windows.
- Audio, camera, or microphone: BugMojo does not record any media streams.
- Data before you start: capture begins when you open the extension, so earlier activity in the session is not included.
Common questions
Does BugMojo record a video of my screen?
Not automatically. BugMojo records a lightweight rrweb DOM session replay that reconstructs the page from DOM changes. It is not a video, so it stays small and text stays selectable. Screen video is opt-in: on Chrome and Edge you can turn it on for a capture, and it plays in sync with the replay.
Are my passwords and form inputs captured?
No. Text and inputs are masked by default, and PII redaction runs client-side in the extension before any data leaves your browser.
Does BugMojo capture other browser tabs?
No. Capture is scoped to the tab where you start a report. Other tabs, your desktop, and other applications are never recorded.
