Fix it when the extension isn't capturing
Diagnose why the BugMojo extension won't record a bug and get capture working again in a few checks.
When you click Capture and nothing records, the cause is almost always the page, another extension, or your sign-in state, not a broken install. Work through the checks below in order, starting with the most likely.
Find your symptom
- Capture is greyed out or does nothing on this page.Likely cause: You are on a restricted page. Browsers block every extension from running on internal pages (chrome://, edge://, about:), the Chrome Web Store, and Firefox Add-ons pages.
Switch to a normal http or https tab and try again. There is no fix for internal or store pages, this is a browser rule, not a BugMojo limit.
- The button reacts but no session, logs, or screenshot are recorded.Likely cause: The extension was installed or updated after this tab loaded, so its recorder was never injected into the page.
Reload the tab, then click Capture again. If you just installed or updated BugMojo, reload any tabs you want to record from.
- Capture starts but the replay comes back blank or empty.Likely cause: An ad-blocker, privacy extension, or a strict Content Security Policy on the site is blocking the recorder scripts or network hooks.
Allow-list the site in your ad-blocker or pause it, then reload and capture again. For a blank or partial replay specifically, see Replay is blank or missing events.
- Nothing happens, and you have several extensions installed.Likely cause: Another extension is conflicting with BugMojo, often a recorder, screenshot, or DOM-modifying tool competing for the same page hooks.
Disable your other extensions, then re-enable them one at a time to find the culprit. Reload the tab after each change so BugMojo can re-inject its recorder.
- The extension opens but prompts you to sign in or shows no account.Likely cause: You are signed out of BugMojo in the extension. Even Quick Capture needs a signed-in account to store the report.
Open the extension and sign in with your BugMojo account, then capture again. New here? Start with Install the extension.
- You have tried every step above and capture still fails.Likely cause: A deeper issue, such as a browser version mismatch, a corrupted install, or a rare compatibility gap.
Confirm your browser is supported in the browser support matrix, then remove and reinstall the extension. If it still won't capture, contact support with your browser name and version.
Common questions
Why can't I capture on a chrome:// page?
Browsers block all extensions from running on internal pages like chrome://, edge://, and web store pages. Switch to a normal http(s) tab to capture.
Do I need to be signed in to capture?
Quick Capture works without a project, but you still need a signed-in BugMojo account in the extension. Open the extension and sign in, then try again.
Why does capture work after I reload the tab?
The extension injects its recorder when a page loads. Tabs opened before you installed or updated the extension have no recorder until you reload them.
